iPadOS 13 and higher
UPDATE: Valid for iPadOS 13.0 and higher
The ‘Mirror Display Auto-Lock’ function is not supported in the new iPadOS version anymore. Please, set the ‘Display Auto-Lock’ function to ‘Never’.
Set up Guided Access on iPad
Tap Settings > Accessibility > Guided Access to set up Guided Access.
- Turn Guided Access on
- Set a passcode that controls the use of Guided Access and prevents someone from leaving an active session
- Set the Display Auto-Lock function to Never
Start a Guided Access session
To start a Guided Access session, follow these steps:
- Open the app you want to use.
- Triple-click the Home button.
- Adjust settings for the session, and then tap Start.
End a Guided Access session
- Triple-click the Home button.
- Enter the Guided Access passcode.
Not happy with Guided Access? Try Single App Mode
iOS 12.4.2 and lower
In iOS 12.1.1, Apple has added a new setting under Guided Access Mode called Mirror Display Auto-Lock. When it is turned on, Guided Access Mode will obey the setting in Display & Brightness. When off, the screen will turn off after 20 minutes of inactivity.
Set up Guided Access on iPad
Tap Settings > General > Accessibility > Guided Access to set up Guided Access.
- Turn Guided Access on
- Set a passcode that controls the use of Guided Access and prevents someone from leaving an active session
- Set whether the device can go to sleep during a session
Start a Guided Access session
To start a Guided Access session, follow these steps:
- Open the app you want to use.
- Triple-click the Home button.
- Adjust settings for the session, and then tap Start.
End a Guided Access session
- Triple-click the Home button.
- Enter the Guided Access passcode.
